How to choose a fire-resistant curtain

First of all, to choose fire curtains, it is necessary to find out the presence of an irrigation system (sprinkler or drencher fire irrigation systems), depending on this, we choose from two options:

1. Single-layer fire curtains EI 60 with irrigation (link)

2. Fire curtains EI 60 multilayer without irrigation (link)

The construction of a single-layer curtain with irrigation is a little simpler and the price is lower. Due to the intensity of irrigation, it is possible to increase the fire resistance of the barrier to EI 120 and EI 180, for this irrigation should increase from 0.04 l/m2 to 0.08 l/m2 for fire resistance of 120 minutes and up to 7.3 l/m2 for fire resistance of 180 minutes.

The second question from the manufacturer of fire barriers will be the presence of the 1st category of power supply at the facility. For proper operation according to the Federal Law, the curtain must be automatically lowered when the fire alarm is triggered. If the electricity is turned off during a fire, then the canvas will not be able to descend, except in cases of using engines with gravigain. To ensure that the opening is closed during a power outage, a UPS with a battery is installed in the control unit, and this affects the cost of the entire structure and the cost of further maintenance.

The cost of fire-resistant curtains depends on several factors:

1. The fabric used. We use European certified fabric.

2. The drives used. We use European engines, unlike some competitors who use Chinese analogues.

3. Availability of installation and warranty. We have our own installers with a license of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, SRO membership. The official warranty, which can be extended up to 5 years at the conclusion of a service contract.

4. Availability of state-issued certificates. Our certificates are issued by a state-accredited organization.

Construction

1. The standard design comes with a 200x220 mm box and is used for curtains up to 4 meters high.

2. Reinforced construction (premium) is used for multilayer curtains of large size. It is supplied with reinforced guides, a 330x330 mm box and rollers supporting the shaft and fabric.

Sizes

The maximum width of single-layer fire curtains is 8 meters. If you need to cover the dimensions of more than 8 meters, then you will need to split into several openings and install columns with guides. Another option that will be more expensive, but allows you to block openings of more than 35 meters is to use the construction of the fire curtain "Accordion".

Scope of application

Fire curtains are laid in the project at the design stage. Most often they are installed in commercial and office, industrial, administrative, warehouse premises. Fire-resistant curtains are installed between rooms in vestibule locks, doorways and elevator shafts.

License and testing

Fire-fighting products are subject to mandatory certification and undergo real tests in a laboratory accredited by Rostest. The laboratory installs special sensors and conducts fire tests in the time prescribed by law. After successful tests, a state-issued certificate is issued and applied to the products. Without the appropriate certificate, the fire inspection will not allow the building to be put into operation.

Laws

Since January 1, 2020, the certification of fire curtains is carried out according to the EAEU TR 043/2017 Technical Regulations of the Eurasian Economic Union "On requirements for fire safety and fire extinguishing means". Laboratories are only getting accreditation under the new regulations. Certification will now be valid throughout the territory of the Eurasian Union.
